Today's Thought

Our parish is involved in the Generations of Faith program as a means of engaging in whole parish catechesis and faith formation. Our focus for the year will be the seven sacraments, and we are beginning with the Eucharist. In addition to periodic small group gatherings that are optional, our focus on the Eucharist in particular is being integrated into our Sunday gathering and worship. Before beginning Mass, Father shared a brief (four minute) instruction/reflection on the Introductory Rite of the Mass and in his homily spoke on once again keeping holy the Sabbath. The closing line of his homily struck me profoundly:

"Make holy the Sabbath, and in some sure way,

the Sabbath will make you holy, too."

Hi, Lisa,
I'm curious... how is the Generations of Faith program working out in your parish? The Diocese of Austin in Texas (a diocese in which I used to work)considered adopting it at one point, but I'm not sure they ever did.
Thanks for your posts!

I am part of St. John the Baptist adult formation commission and would be interested in knowing more about this program. Who sponsors it and how can I get more information? Indeed, the closing line of Fr's homily is profound. Thanks for sharing!!!!
